Raices Hispanicos - Hispanic Roots - is a program of songs and music from Argentina, Brazil, Spain, and Mexico. Selected especially for this program by Nereida Garcia, the music by Carlos Guastavino, Alberto Ginastera, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Enrique Granados, and Samuel Zyman, depicts the wide range of the Hispanic culture in Latin America.

Nereida García, Mexican-American soprano, has sung on a number of stages in the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Austria and the Czech Republic. Her most recent performances include singing as the soprano soloist in the Brahms Requiem with the University of North Texas A Cappella Choir, and in Poulenc’s Gloria with the Grand Chorus, Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Jerry McCoy. Prior to these engagements, Miss García made her return to Mexico, representing her family's home state at the 2014 International Festival of Tamaulipas.
Miss García is Adjunct Instructor of Music in Voice and Diction at the Texas A&M University-Commerce Music Department. She maintains a private voice studio in Richardson, Texas, where she is presently accepting new students of all levels.
