How Can I Keep From Singing?
Join Voces Intimae for Our 2021/2022 Season

Dear Friends,

How wonderful to say, “How can I keep from singing!” This past year with all its trepidations, upheaval, and unrivaled challenges has proven the resilience of the human spirit. We discovered that music and art are the golden thread in life’s tapestry. These precious words, "How can I keep from singing," sustained me through the uncertainties of the past tumultuous and at times trying year. I hope you found your own personal mantra for comfort and strength. Although our resilience, faith, and even our humanity have been tested time and time again over the last eighteen months, I hope you feel reenergized, determined, and excited to face our ‘new’ normal with hope and anticipation for our future.

After a brief hiatus, I am thrilled to yet again lead this wonderful organization as Artistic Director. For the past ten year Voces Intimae has served the DFW community, presenting countless concerts, masterclasses, and community outreach ventures that gave a voice to all voices. This commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion again will be reflected in the 2021/2022 season.
As part of our series Mosaic Voices Rising, we kickoff the season by celebrating Latin Heritage Month in October with a Caliente! A Latin Affair. In February, coinciding with Black History Month, Soul Songs features works by Black composers and familiar spirituals. You don’t want to miss our annual gala event in November, featuring celebrated soprano Angela Turner Wilson. Save the date! - November 13th! The season concludes with The Juliet Letters, a joint venture with Neo Camerata. Showcasing the collaborative prowess of pop rock icon Elvis Costello, the cycle was inspired by the idea of the real-life letters written to Shakespeare’s fictional Juliet Capulet.
As we navigate these unprecedented times, we need your renewed support and commitment now more than ever. Please visit our website (www.vocesintimaeartsong.org) to stay up to date, get involved, and donate to the organization. We depend on you to fulfill our mission to continue to present the highest caliber of performers to our community stakeholders and provide educational opportunities to all art song lovers.

If you are new to the world of art songs, welcome. The intimacy of the music and the richness of the poetry will graciously fold you in its cloak. I hope to see you engaging with us through our annual programs and performances. Those of Us that have had the wonderful opportunity to explore this genre truly can say, "How can I keep from singing!"
Best Wishes for a great season,

Christian Bester, D.M.A
